Vancouver And AreaTree Risk Assessments
What Is A Tree Risk Assessment?
A safe environment is critical for living in the urban forest within the city of Vancouver and surrounding areas. Our ISA certified arborists can identify potential hazards, such as tree failure potential, or dangerous branches, by evaluating a tree’s health, structural integrity, and surrounding area.
Tree risk assessment helps prevent personal injury or property damage and also helps identify potential health issues, such as disease or pest infestation, early on. Hazardous trees can be a liability for the property owner.
Devine Arboriculture Solutions is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture and has been an expert in tree work for many years. We offer competitive prices for assessments. Our reports provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risks.
Tree risk assessments are a proactive approach that helps enhance the ecological value of your landscape and the urban forest by finding hazards before they cause problems.
The Tree Risk AssessmentProcess
When Do I Need A Tree Risk Assessment?
As a homeowner or commercial property owner, you should always be aware of the existing trees around you. Tree health is vitally important to the safety of property and people. You should consider a tree risk assessment if you see visible signs of damage to a tree, tree distress, cracks in the trunk, dead trees, or dead or hanging branches.
Regular assessments by a qualified arborist are essential to guarantee safety if a tree is located near structures or high-traffic areas where people gather. We recommend yearly inspection of your trees, or after a major weather event.
You may be planning a construction project that could impact nearby trees, or perhaps you are a property manager. In this case, consider having one of our consulting arborists come to the site to expedite a professional arborist report.
Level 1 - Visual Assessment
Brief visual assessments can evaluate and identify high-risk trees. Level 1 assessments are designed to cover trees over a large area quickly. Visual inspections from vehicles or from walking paths, streets, or sidewalks allows us to identify trees that are clearly a risk and may warrant further assessment.
Level 2 - Basic Assessment
Professional arborists use basic assessments to examine single trees for visible defects. The assessment is more in-depth and designed to evaluate a tree’s overall health and structural integrity.
Open cavity inspection, sounding checks using a rubber mallet, and other techniques are used to determine whether an aspect of the tree’s structure or health indicates a further inspection will be needed.
Level 3 - Advanced Assessment Using Technology
Should the basic assessment warrant that a tree needs further inspection, our tree experts will carry out an advanced assessment using only best practices. Our inspection may include:
A climbing inspection.
Examination of the root system.
Resistograph analysis.
Sonic tomography to visually represent the tree’s internal conditions.
Advanced assessments examine tree roots, stem, and crown in depth. This comprehensive assessment allows us to recommend tree risk management actions, such as tree maintenance, emergency tree removal, or tree replacement.
